Over 30 years’ experience in industry in operational, managerial, consulting, project and governance development roles. Stephen has extensive international experience in project development, business transformation, governance and M&A transactions and has held CEO, General Manager and Chief Advisor positions in a wide range of companies including Rio Tinto.

His work has been across a range of sectors including mining, engineering, utilities, manufacturing, education, oil and gas and infrastructure. International experience includes Austria, Canada, China, Congo, France, Guinea, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Laos, Madagascar, New Zealand, Philippines, Peru, PNG, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Senegal, South Africa, United States of America and Zaire.

Stephen’s consulting and advisory services have also included evaluation of merger, acquisition and divestment opportunities, IT applications and strategy development, project management and construction, due diligence, governance reviews, management consulting and risk analysis. He has led major transformation projects (value $100,000 to $500M) including strategic and marketing studies, organizational research, development and delivery of training courses and business improvement work programs.

✦ South32 – Lead of data analytics team as a part a long-term business improvement project to deliver value across the supply chain. The results of this project have been significant improvements in productivity and cost reductions.

✦ Newcrest – Review of capital projects with a combined value of over $500M including reporting to the Newcrest Board and the Investment Committee.

✦ Ma’aden – Gap analysis and strategic review of capital governance and management processes for the entire company. The project has a focus on management and supervisory behavioural change and better project delivery.
