Michael has over 25 years’ experience in working within and advising major government businesses across Australia in a variety of general management roles, including Chief Financial Officer, Company Secretary, General Manager Information Technology and General Manager People & Safety.
These roles and advisory services have been undertaken within the water and energy sectors, sports sector, and shipping/marine government business sectors.

Michael collaborates with clients, both government and public companies, to ensure they deliver on their vision through the execution of their strategic plans. Key to success in Michael’s work is the delivery and maintenance of strong and appropriate governance and compliance systems. This is paramount in matching business mechanics with the cultural dynamics of the organisation.

 

Projects

Following are examples of recent projects:

✦ Government Sporting Enterprise – Led the successful creation and delivery of a Corporate Governance Department resulting in the adoption by the Board of Directors of a Governance Framework, supported by the adoption of governance Policies across all functions. This work included building a Risk Management Framework for the enterprise with a Compliance Function to support Board and Audit & Risk Committee review.

✦ Water Corporation – Reviewed the opportunity for outsourcing and co-sourcing of the maintenance activities for a Water Corporation to ensure ongoing service provision, including out of hours service, whilst delivering significant operational savings against agreed key performance standards.

✦ Digitisation Strategy – Developed a Strategic Plan for a major document storage company to diversify services and create new revenue streams. This project resulted in a significant increase in employees and capital investment with traditional clients partnering with the business to digitise information both historical and ongoing.

✦ Renewable Energy Project Development – Collaborated with a client to develop a major solar farm adjacent to their manufacturing facility to power their operations resulting in significant savings in operations with no grid connection required.
